From 93.1 kg to 87.9 kg With a Structured Vegetarian Nutrition Plan
A gentleman in his 50s had been trying to lose weight for some time but felt lost about what to do. As a vegetarian living with diabetes-related concerns, insulin resistance and cholesterol issues, choosing an appropriate diet was not as simple as eating less. With a personalised nutrition plan and close dietitian monitoring, his weight gradually reduced between 11 July and 20 August 2026.

His Starting Situation
Before consulting Home Dietitians, he was dealing with several challenges:
- Vegetarian diet
- Diabetes-related concerns
- Insulin resistance
- Cholesterol concerns
- Difficulty losing weight
- Unsure what and how much to eat
- Had tried different approaches without satisfactory results
The goal was not to give him another restrictive diet. The focus was to create a structured eating approach that could work with his vegetarian lifestyle while supporting sustainable weight management.
Progress Under Close Monitoring
His weight did not fall in a perfectly straight line — there were small increases and periods where it stayed almost unchanged. That is normal. The important part is the overall trend.
Overall downward trend despite normal day-to-day fluctuations. Dashed line shows the linear trend across all recorded weigh-ins.

The Bigger Story Behind the Numbers
Rather than reacting to every daily fluctuation, the dietitian continued monitoring his progress and adjusting the nutrition approach around his actual eating habits.
A Vegetarian Plan That Worked With His Lifestyle
For someone following a vegetarian diet, simply reducing portions may not provide an appropriately balanced eating pattern. The nutrition strategy needed to consider:
- Vegetarian protein choices
- Meal portions
- Carbohydrate quantity and distribution
- Fibre-rich food choices
- Overall meal balance
- Foods suitable for his metabolic health concerns
- Practical meals he could realistically continue eating
Most importantly, he received ongoing monitoring rather than being given a diet plan and left to manage alone.
More Than a Number on the Scale
One of the most meaningful outcomes was something very simple. This mattered because before consulting Home Dietitians, he had already tried different ways to lose weight but had not been able to achieve the results he wanted.
“I can finally wear my old pants again.”Client-reported outcome
The progress gave him something beyond a lower number on the scale: a sense that he was finally moving in the right direction.
What This Case Shows
Weight management can be especially confusing when someone is also trying to manage several health considerations at once.
Generic diet advice may not address all of these considerations at the same time. A personalised dietitian programme can instead help create a more structured approach based on the individual’s existing diet, lifestyle and health considerations.
