Cardiovascular Health Screening Event

Home Dietitians ran a community heart-health screening at Klinik RE — going beyond the traditional ECG and angiogram to measure the deeper blood markers that predict cardiovascular risk, each one interpreted on the spot by a registered dietitian with a personalised nutrition plan.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in Malaysia — responsible for around 17% of all deaths, and it strikes especially from age 40 onward. A standard check-up often misses the early warning signs. This event was built to catch them earlier.

What the screening covered

Every participant received a body composition analysis (visceral fat, muscle mass and subcutaneous fat), a full nutritional assessment, and an advanced cardiovascular blood panel measuring markers most routine screenings skip:

Lipid Profile Total cholesterol, HDL, LDL and triglycerides — arterial plaque risk.
HS-CRP High-sensitivity C-reactive protein — hidden inflammation linked to heart disease.
Homocysteine Elevated levels damage blood vessels and drive atherosclerosis.
Ferritin Iron storage — both high and low levels carry cardiovascular risk.
ApoB / ApoA1 Ratio A precise lipid-risk measure beyond standard cholesterol.
IL-6 Interleukin-6 — an inflammation marker tied to cardiovascular events.
Lipoprotein(a) An inherited cholesterol form raising plaque risk, especially with family history.
NT-proBNP A stress protein from the heart — helps detect heart failure.
Fibrinogen A clotting factor; elevated levels raise heart attack and stroke risk.
Oxidised LDL Oxidised cholesterol that can initiate arterial plaque buildup.

How the day ran

Doors were open to walk-in members of the public for the full day, free of charge. Guests were welcomed at the clinic lobby and moved through five unhurried stations, one at a time, ending at the dietitian’s desk with their results explained the same day:

  1. Registration & welcome — check-in at the lobby, with the day’s stations and flow explained.
  2. Body composition — InBody body-composition analysis, plus height and weight.
  3. Blood pressure — an on-site reading as a first look at cardiovascular load.
  4. Blood collection — professional venipuncture by our lab partner, Gnosis Laboratories, for the cholesterol and heart-health markers above.
  5. One-on-one nutrition consult — our dietitian walked each guest through their body-composition report with personalised, heart-healthy eating advice.

The screening and consultation stations were run by the Home Dietitians team, led by registered dietitian Jaceme Chuah, with all blood collection handled by Gnosis Laboratories.

More than a test — an interpretation

The difference at a Home Dietitians screening is what happens after the blood draw. Our registered dietitians read each result in context and translate it into a personalised dietary plan to protect and improve heart health — because a number on a lab report only helps if you know what to do about it.
